Moments From Fall Conference
Living conditions were spartan: beds, walls, and a roof. The second night I was lying in my bunk and started narrating:
Day two, the temperatures are dropping rapidly. Food supplies are long gone but we fear to live the cabin for the cold. We wait for rescue, but our hope begins to diminish with each minute.

I called home today, and asked my mom about the shipment status of my to-be-awesome-laptop. My mom then tells me a funny story:
Apparently last night, my dad was commenting how if it was his laptop, he’d be impatient and would head home when it arrived instead of waiting for the weekend. My parents then remark about my self-control and such.
Then, of course, I ruin this by calling my mom today and asking if I could head home on Tuesday night…

Freshman year, my schedule was an early morning (8AM) class every day, and then a long block of free time until the afternoon. I would come back to my dorm in between and shower and work. One of my roommates once remarked that he had never seen me do homework. This became a running joke, every time he was in the room I would be reading wikipedia or metafilter or whatever it is that all my time goes to.
One day he caught me doing homework. He laughed, and I, embarrassed, put away my textbook and instead wasted time.
