Names are powerful; they triangulate an object’s meaning and guide your thoughts. We decided “porkbuns.net” meant we were quirky and Asian. This blog is my chance to show off those qualities.

Google!

Google is totally sweet. Ignoring the technical details (for which I believe I am required by them to say “it is company policy not to divulge such details”), the food and drinks are awesome.

I had a bunch of orientation today, and didn’t think I’d have time for lunch. Solution: go to kitchen, grab a steak salad (seriously, salad + steak + caramelized onions), and 2 bottles of Naked Juice. I swear the dollar value of the food I eat in a day is more than the amount of money I made in a day at FAQQLY. (FAQQLY rocked my socks off though.)

What I will tell you about what I’m doing: I have a 30″ LCD, Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz, 4GB RAM, and effectively unlimited hard drive space. And I think all the interns get this (or a laptop). And I picked up a nice Microsoft Natural keyboard (do I talk about these enough? Buy them. Buy them now. SQUEEEE)

Man. All they need is a place where I can put a sleeping bag and I’d never leave.

PS: Google’s secrecy is (in my opinion, not affiliated with Google, not the official company stance) stupid. Who cares how many machines you have or what ideas you have. NDAs for a startup to tell you their super-sekrat ideas are useless. If you have a great idea, awesome, I have one too, but you have to go actually do something before you can convert said idea into large number in your bank account. Go build something cool, then come back to me.

Un-Life

Since starting work I really feel as if my life has just been consumed. I go there in the morning, I type until like 7 or so, and head back and eat dinner.

And that’s my day. I feel so dragged down by the huge time commitment, and when I get back I’m usually too tired to do anything.

I wonder if this is what the rest of my life is supposed to feel like.
